Chelsi Bullard is a Memphis-born and Brooklyn-based filmmaker with an unwavering desire to restore beauty, well-being and complexity in stories about Black folx and other minoritized groups.

Her directorial work has been supported by Chicken & Egg Pictures, New York State Council on the Arts, NYC Women’s Fund, Brown Girls Doc Mafia, InMaat Foundation, Bay Area Video Coalition, Film Independent, Big Sky Pitch and Hot Docs Forum.

Producing credits include the feature documentary COMING AROUND (dir. Sandra Itäinen) which had its US Premiere at Frameline, 2023 and won the ‘Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature’ at NewFest, 2023.

Editing credits include the feature documentary THE RIGHT TO READ (Santa Barbara, 2023 and SXSW EDU, 2023) with director Jenny Mackenzie and Executive Produced by Reading Rainbow’s LeVar Burton. She also recently co-edited LOCKED OUT (dirs. Kate Davis and Luchina Fisher) which was named ‘Best Documentary Feature’ at American Black Film Festival, 2023 and screened opening night at Double Exposure Film Festival, 2023.

Chelsi is a 2024 Film Independent Documentary Story Fellow. She is currently directing her feature directorial debut, UNFILTERED.
